If you’ve ever fancied riding along the river banks of the Rhine, wheeling your way around Vienna or exploring Bordeaux by bicycle then APT’s new Cycling Series will definitely appeal.
The award winning luxury travel operator is offering cycling enthusiasts of varying abilities the chance to experience some exciting cycle routes on two of its most popular river cruises.
Part of its portfolio of Special Interest Cruising, the new Cycling Series is just one of the exciting new highlights featured in APT’s recently launched Europe River Cruising 2017 brochure.
Guests who choose to travel on APT’s new cycling cruises will be fitted with their own high quality touring or road bike at the beginning of their cruise.
APT has also arranged for a team of expert cyclists to lead each ride, while a support vehicle will travel with each group to provide technical assistance so guests can cycle with confidence.
For those who prefer to opt out of the cycling while their travel companion explores the trails, APT is also operating its usual sightseeing programs.
Cycling Magnificent Europe
Seven cycling experiences are available on APT’s new 15-day Cycling Magnificent Europe, a cruise designed to appeal to a range of cycling abilities. Guests can choose to cycle around Cologne; wheel their way to world-famous Erbach Monastery; take a trail to Fortress Marienburg in Würzburg; stop for a much needed beer on a bike tour to Bamberg; take a cycling excursion to Wallhalla; ride to the ruins of Dürnstein, and pedal the streets of Vienna.
The new cycling experiences are offered as sightseeing options throughout the cruise, which also features APT’s three exclusive Royal Signature Experiences: a journey aboard the luxurious Majestic Imperator train: a private visit to Namedy Castle; and a private musical soiree at Vienna’s newly refurbished City Palace.
Priced from $8,695* per person, twin share, APT is offering a choice of four departure dates in 2017 for this new cruise: 30 April, 14 May; 17 September and 1 October. APT is offering the chance to Fly to Europe for just $995 when you book this cruise by 31 August 2016**.
Bordeaux by Bicycle
APT has also introduced its new 8-day Bordeaux by Bicycle river cruise. Aimed at more experienced cyclists, APT will fit guests out with their own quality carbon road bike prior to setting sail.
Four cycling experiences are on offer. In Bordeaux there’s the chance to cycle the Roger Lapedie cycle path, taking a winding valley route passing by local towns, historic ruins, Château and vineyards. When your rivership stops in Pauillac your cycle route allows for you to stop for cheese and wine tastings. You can also follow the Dordogne on another route. There is also the opportunity to explore the vineyards of Bergerac by bicycle.
These cycling additions have been paired to perfectly complement APT’s already unforgettable Bordeaux river cruise, highlights of which include APT’s new Royal Signature Experience – a special visit to Château de Cazeneuve, once home of the Kings of Navarre and later King Henri IV of France and his wife Queen Margot. APT guests enjoy a private tour before sitting down to dinner in the impeccable Grand Salon, while enjoying the traditional music from a Baroque band.
This new cruise is priced from $6,695* per person, twin share and guests can choose from two departures in 2017 – 6 July or 28 September. For bookings made before 31 August 2016, APT is offering the chance to fly to Europe for just $1,195**.
APT’s Cycling Cruises include an expert APT Cruise Director, all meals and complementary beverages served on board; high quality touring or road bike hire to explore Europe’s trails; expert cyclists to accompany the rides; the services of an on road support vehicle; and transfers, port charges, gratuities and sundries.
