Tune in to Weekend Today over the next four weeks as David Whitehill discovers some of the highlights of France on a river cruise along the Seine with Scenic.
First stop is cosmopolitan Paris where David goes on a walking tour to get an insider’s perspective then onto the town of Rouen to discover the delights of the city including a cooking demonstration at the French Baking and Patisserie Institute.
The following week he continues his journey with an excursion to the moving Somme Battlefields, the beaches of Normandy, Arromanches Landing Museum and Omaha Beach Cemetery and Memorial.
Next he heads towards the open waters of the English Channel to explore the pretty port city of Honfleur, then onto Caudebec-en-Caux before enjoying a Scenic Enrich event at the impressive Bénédictine Palace in Fécamp.
The final episode David discovers the fascinating history of the Impressionist era along the Seine when visiting Vernon, Giverny – home to Monet’s former residence and gardens, and the charming village of Auvers-sur-Oise where he enters Vincent Van Gogh’s room.
